Anne's House of Dreams - L. M. Montgomery

The fifth book in the Anne of Green Gables series and my favourite so far! Once again L. M. Montgomery has provided a joyous, heartwarming and moving novel filled with our favourite characters and some new faces too.

Now Anne and Gilbert are married and have located their 'House of Dreams' at Four Winds Harbour, they begin to make their cosy nest in this new neighbourhood. Their new friends include Leslie, a local girl who Anne quickly takes as a 'bosom friend', and old Captain Jim who lives in the little lighthouse and misses his departed wife.

This novel documents the next phase in Anne's life as a new wife and a hopeful mother, a far cry from the girl who she used to be when she arrived on Prince Edward Island as a plucky young redhead. Anne has settled into married life like a duck to water and readers have the joy of experiencing this next chapter with her.

Montgomery's writing is once again humour and emotion and is utterly brimming with lush descriptive language. I'm so excited to continue the journey with Anne but also sad to be closing in on the last few novels!
